Guide to Make a Dust Free Bedroom

Let’s face it, we spend most of the time at home in the bed room other than any other room in the house. And since you spend most of your time here, keeping it into a dust free area is important. For example spending some time to clean this room once a day or once a week can make a huge difference. Dust will get thicker and thicker in time without you even notice; unless you clean it on a periodical basis.

So how to make our bed room dust free? Keep reading this simple guide:

  • Toss away the carpet. Carpet is somewhat dust magnet that is impossible to be free of dust particles at a time. In exchange, put in hardwood, linoleum or tile floors.

  • Use dust proof zippered covers to use for both box springs and mattresses. You might consider using the same for your pillows as well.

  • Only use washable items on your bed. All bedding, pillowcases, shams and extra pillows must to be washable. Wash them periodically with hot water, at least 130 degrees F. Also wash any curtains on the windows at least once a week to keep it clean along with the bedding too.

  • Consider to have wooden, plastic or steel furniture for your bedroom. They can all be scrubbed easily with hot water to remove dust on their surfaces. Clean all hard furnishings at least once a week with dust removing cleaner or very hot water to deny the dust on its surfaces.

  • Buy a good high efficiency air filter (HEPA) vacuum cleaner that can reduce allergens and suck the dust particles in the room. Consider it as an investment for your health sake.

  • Clean up your home ventilation systems at least once a year. You might want to contact a professional ventilation cleaning service for better result. You can also remove your ventilations from the walls, vacuum and replace on your own more often.

Many homes are usually set their hot water heater on cooler temperature to avoid the children scalding with it. If so, as alternatives take all of your bedding to laundry service that uses hot temperature water for your bedding cleaning. Cold water only won’t be able to remove dust mites and particles.

Keep your pet animal out of bedroom as often as possible. Anybody who’s allergic to animal furs most likely is allergic to dust too.

Clean and thoroughly wash any fabric toys or even stuffed animals in your bed room in hot water at least once a week. If they can’t be washed, don’t put it there!

Try to avoid anything upholstered, like chairs or Venetian blinds in the bedroom. They can collect dust and are not easily washed.
